LaseMD Ultra uses non-ablative fractional laser technology that creates microscopic thermal channels in the skin, stimulating collagen renewal without removing the surface layer the way a fully ablative laser does. It can be paired with infused topical serums, which the laser’s channels help absorb more deeply than they could on intact skin.
LaseMD Ultra’s is unique in that it’s intensity can be dialed from a mild refresh to more targeted pigment correction, which means the right settings matter, especially on melasma-prone or deeper skin tones. Every treatment at Tone starts with a skin analysis so your settings are chosen for your skin, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
The experience
01
Your provider evaluates your pigment, tone, and texture concerns and sets the laser’s intensity specifically for your skin, from a gentle refresh to more targeted pigment correction.
02
After numbing, the laser passes over the treatment area in 20–30 minutes, often followed by an infused serum to take advantage of the skin’s increased absorption. Most patients feel warmth or mild prickling.
02
Depending on your personal settings, you can expect redness and mild flaking for 1–3 days, similar to a mild sunburn. A series of 3–5 sessions is typically recommended for the best cumulative results.
why tone
Your laser treatment is only as good as the Provider behind it. The wrong laser settings on pigment-prone or deeper skin tones can make discoloration worse, not better. Our Providers are experts in customizing the right settings based on your goals & skin type. Intensity and treatment plans are set deliberately for you and your skin, it is not a generic approach.

A series of 3–5 sessions is typically recommended for pigmentation and texture concerns and full correction. Package pricing is available and Tone members receive preferred series pricing.
good to know
LaseMD Ultra treatments at Tone start at $400 per session. Pricing is based on intensity with our more aggressive treatments being $850. A series of 3 to 5 sessions is typically recommended for pigmentation and texture concerns, with your exact plan set at your skin consultation.
LaseMD Ultra is a gentler, non-ablative laser with little to no downtime, best for pigmentation, melasma, and early texture concerns treated as a series. CO2 laser resurfacing is more aggressive with real downtime, but delivers more dramatic results for deeper wrinkles and significant sun damage in fewer sessions. Learn more on our CO2 laser page.
Downtime depends on the intensity of the settings. For more mild treatments, patients experience redness and mild flaking for 1 to 3 days, similar to a mild sunburn, and can return to normal activities almost immediately. For more intense treatments, patients experience redness and mild flaking for 2 – 5 days and can return to normal activities within 24 hours.
Most patients see optimal results with a series of 3 to 5 sessions spaced several weeks apart, followed by periodic maintenance treatments to sustain results.
LaseMD Ultra can be adjusted across a wide range of intensities, which makes it a common option for melasma and deeper skin tones when settings are chosen carefully. A skin analysis and consultation are important beforehand, since the wrong settings on pigment-prone skin can worsen discoloration.
